Plant sterols are found naturally within the human diet. Vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, grain products, fruits and vegetables contain plant sterols but typically at low levels.
Plant sterols are found at low levels in healthy everyday foods. 'The optimal daily intake of plant sterols for significant cholesterol
lowering is 2-2.5g, which is about 5 times more than the average plant
sterol content of a regular diet.
